The kitchen is fully equipped with a butler's double sink, range cooker, microwave, dishwasher and larder refrigerator, plus lots of storage. For informal dining there's a rustic wooden table and six chairs.
You'll find a fridge-freezer in the small lobby off the kitchen where there's a washing machine and tumble drier. From the kitchen another door opens out into a boot room with yet more storage for coats and shoes, a recycling point and the cleaning cupboard.
The dining room overlooks the small terrace garden at the rear of the house. This long, bright room has seating for eight. Entertainment in this room includes an iPod and, for the children, a well-stocked toy chest. A high-chair is available upon request.
Spacious and airy, the sitting room at Pilgrim Corner can comfortably seat ten or more in sofas, armchairs and window seats. A bureau is tucked in a corner next to the squint window (used in past times to see who was at the front door) with writing materials, guide books, landline telephone and visitor information packs. The wood burner adds a cosy feel on colder nights. There's a selection of games, jigsaws and puzzles for all ages! And for your digital delight a large flat-screen TV with Sky, iPlayer facilities and Blue-ray DVD complete the room. And as with the rest of the house, the wifi works a treat in this room.
Each of the four en-suite bedrooms has a theme developed in its furnishings and décor. We hope you enjoy our whimsy:
The main bedroom with a grand king-sized bed, antique furniture throughout, and en-suite bathroom. A travel cot can be found in the wardrobe – please bring your own bedding for it. You'll find a bookcase on the landing with books for everyone.
Small but perfectly formed, this pretty room has good views of the surrounding historic area as well as an elegant mini-shower.
Cosily beamed, exotic colours and antique furniture carry through the avian theme. There's also a small mirrored vestibule with a large shower leading off it
This twin-bedded room on the ground floor is light and spacious. It has generous en-suite shower facilities and an enchanting rural theme.
PLEASE NOTE: Bed linen and towels are included in your fee. We do not provide towels for the hot tub so please bring your own beach towels for that purpose. You may also want to bring flip flops and bath robes too.
From the flagstone terrace the full extent of the garden is almost hidden. Walk further along the path and the garden gradually reveals itself. If you are very lucky, at this moment you'll hear the clock strike in the nearby St Michael's Church that forms an imposing backdrop to the scene. Passing terraced beds of spring or summer flowers you'll go through the rose arch and find yourself in a secret garden with its secluded summerhouse 'Pilgrim's Folly', perfect for long, lazy afternoons. And that's where you'll find the cedar hot tub and changing cabin. Don't forget to bring your own towels.
From the highest point of the garden you can look over rooftops to Exmoor.
After a fall of snow the garden becomes a magical place, as shown in our photos.
